What you’ll do
Residential Electricians install and maintain electrical systems in single-family homes, multi-family housing, and condominiums. Day-to-day work includes:
- Rough-in wiring for new construction
- Installing power networks, lighting fixtures, and appliances
- Service upgrades and panel replacements
- Troubleshooting and repair on existing systems
Apprenticeship details
- Length: Three years
- Starting wage: 40% of journeyman residential scale, with raises every 1,000 hours
- Classroom: Evening classes at the Training Center, paid for by the program
- Benefits: Full IBEW health, pension, and annuity package
Education entry requirements
- High-school diploma, GED, or post-secondary degree from an accredited institution
- One full academic year of high-school algebra (passing grade)
- Must be 18 years of age and a US citizen at the time of application
- Reside within IBEW Local #1 jurisdiction
