What you’ll do
Inside Electricians are the backbone of commercial and industrial construction. You’ll install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems in:
- Office buildings, schools, and hospitals
- Manufacturing plants and process facilities
- Power generation and distribution
- Public infrastructure and high-tech facilities
Apprentices are exposed to the broadest range of electrical installations on the construction spectrum — from feeder distribution and motor controls to fire alarm, lighting, and code-compliance work.
Apprenticeship details
- Length: Five years / 9,000 hours of on-the-job training
- Classroom: Approximately 900 hours of related instruction over the program
- Starting wage: 40% of journeyman scale, with raises every 1,000 hours
- Benefits: Health insurance, pension, and annuity from day one
- Outcome: Up to 60 hours of college credit upon completion
Education entry requirements
- High-school diploma, GED, or post-secondary degree from an accredited institution
- One full academic year of high-school algebra (passing grade)
- One full academic year of high-school geometry (passing grade)
- Must be 18 years of age and a US citizen at the time of application
- Reside within IBEW Local #1 jurisdiction
